Taking on Chronic Hepatitis B

A New Approach to Treating Chronic Hepatitis B

Existing medications suppress hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA in blood and may delay the progression of liver disease, but they require long-term/chronic treatment with associated safety and patient compliance issues because they do not eliminate the virus from the liver.

We are using novel host-directed antivirals alone or in combination with existing drugs in a finite treatment regimen with the goal of providing functional cure of chronic hepatitis B.

Targeting:

  • Suppression of HBV DNA
  • Loss of hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg)
  • Loss of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)
